Hobson Leavy is pleased to announce the appointment of Una Jagose to Crown Law Office as their new Solicitor General.
She will replace Michael Heron, QC, who will vacate the role on February 15 next year.
Una Jagose has some 25 years’ work experience in the public sector with experience advising and representing Ministers and Government departments in both constitutional, public and administrative law matters. She was Deputy Solicitor, Crown Legal Risk at Crown Law for two years before becoming acting director of the GCSB. Earlier, she had worked for Crown Law for over a decade in a variety of roles. She has also been chief legal advisor at the Ministry of Fisheries.
She holds an LLB from the University of Otago and an LLM (first-class honours) from Victoria University and was admitted to the Bar in 1990.
Attorney-General Chris Finlayson announced the appointment, saying Jagose had a “very sound legal judgement and has proven herself a capable and effective leader”.
