IHC New Zealand is an incorporated society, founded 75 years ago in 1949. NZ’s largest community-based service provider for people with an intellectual disability and people (tenants) in need, IHC is a complex, multifaceted business that operates three main subsidiary companies – Idea Services, Choices NZ, and Accessible Properties. Through these entities, the Group provides residential, vocational and specialist support services; employment and personal support services; and social/community housing and tenancy management services. IHC also provides a wide range of charitable activities including membership support, fundraising, advocacy services, library services, and volunteering.
The IHC Group employs over 4,000 staff (~3,000 FTEs), with a significant asset base of ~$1.6bn and annual revenue of ~$430M.
IHC is seeking its next Group Chief Executive Officer to lead the organisation through an anticipated period of change in the disability sector, while pursuing further development and growth opportunities. They will provide leadership across the IHC Group – setting the strategic direction and driving operational performance. A critical and visible leadership role within the sector, the CEO will identify areas for diversification and enhancement that further supports the community it serves.
To be successful in this role, you must have an unequivocal commitment to respecting and enhancing the rights of people with disabilities, supporting families/Whanau, and vulnerable people. You will be highly strategic and commercial – with a sharp delivery focus. A strong people leader, you will create an environment of accountability, empathy, and high performance. You will be a seasoned executive, with broad commercial experience in complex and diverse organisations of scale.
Prior experience within the not-for-profit / charity sector is not required. The incoming CEO will, however, possess a genuine commitment to continue and develop the critical work and impact of the IHC Group.
With exceptional stakeholder management skills, you will be a leader who listens to understand. You will be a credible, capable relationship-builder, able to engage with a raft of stakeholder groups to drive cut through. The CEO will align closely and emulate the values that drive IHC, leading with mana, respect and integrity.
