Founded in 1922, King’s School (King’s) is a leading independent boys’ primary and intermediate school situated in the heart of Auckland, New Zealand, with a current roll of 800. Educating boys between Years 1 – 8, King’s has a rich history of academic excellence and varied extracurricular activities, providing all-round opportunities for boys to thrive. Anglican values underpin the culture and character of the school, emphasising inclusivity, tolerance, acceptance of others and valuing differences.
The curriculum focuses on literacy, numeracy and social sciences, supported by a variety of specialist programmes, including science, art and design, languages, drama and a world-class music programme. At King’s, every boy is considered unique, and the breadth of opportunities and innovative teaching from dedicated staff ensure each boy develops his individual talents.
After a long period of stable leadership and campus development, the Board of Governors is now seeking a new Head of King’s School (Head) to lead it through its next chapter. The ideal candidate will inspire a high performing, forward-thinking management team. They will promote an innovative educational platform that inspires students and staff alike – empowering creativity and fulfilling potential. The Head will be a visible ambassador of the school – actively engaging with the wider community, whilst cultivating the unique character that makes King’s so special.
The incoming Head will bring strong leadership credentials, with a track record of leading pedagogical excellence and delivering exceptional academic and student wellbeing outcomes. They will be strategic, with highly developed commercial and operational management skills. They will be experienced in collaborating with a Board of Trustees and have relevant qualifications in teaching/education and/or business management. The next Head will emulate the values that guide King’s – keeping the development and flourishing of boys at the heart of every decision and maintaining its standing as a well-respected, sought-after, leading independent school.
