McKechnie Aluminium Solutions is seeking to appoint a Chief Information Officer to help lead the next stage in the evolution of one of New Zealand’s leading manufacturing businesses.
McKechnie is a large and growing aluminium manufacturer based in New Plymouth, with significant in-house capability spanning extrusion, anodising, powder coating, fabrication, thermal break, and their OMEGA® window and door systems.
This is far more than a “keep the servers running” IT management role. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team reporting directly to the Managing Director, the CIO will lead the long-term technology, systems and digital direction of the business across manufacturing systems, customer software, infrastructure, integration, reporting and process automation.
The first major assignment will be to lead and successfully deliver McKechnie’s next generation business and manufacturing systems programme, including MES, ERP, plant process control and customer-facing software platforms, with a targeted Christmas 2026 go-live.
The successful candidate will lead four internal teams, alongside external partners, and play a key role in shaping the future scalability, capability and competitive position of the business.
We are looking for a commercially minded CIO who genuinely enjoys manufacturing environments and understands how factories operate, comfortable engaging with production managers and operators as they are with developers, analysts and vendors.
You will bring strong programme leadership capability, sound commercial judgement and the ability to drive practical outcomes in a fast-moving operational environment. This role will suit someone who enjoys complexity, accountability and building systems that deliver real improvements in safety, sustainability, quality, service and productivity.
You do not necessarily need to come from a traditional enterprise IT background. What matters is that you are energised, driven and capable of leading complex systems integration programmes, aligning teams and delivering results.
