Royal Society Te Apārangi (Royal Society) is seeking to appoint their next Tumu Whakarae | Chief Executive Officer.

The Royal Society is seeking a credible and accomplished leader bringing expertise in strategy execution and continuous improvement. The incoming CEO will have an empathy for the changes occurring within the science and education sectors and will be equipped to position the Royal Society within this evolving landscape. This is a rare opportunity to lead a highly respected organisation with international reach and champion science, technology, humanities and mātauranga. Responsible for shaping future strategy, forging high-value partnerships and influencing policy, the CEO will ensure the Royal Society remains a powerful and visionary voice in Aotearoa New Zealand’s knowledge and innovation ecosystem.

Royal Society Te Apārangi (Royal Society) is an established statutory body dedicated to advancing and promoting science, technology, and the humanities across Aotearoa. While embedding the spirit and intent of Te Tiriti o Waitangi into their policies and practices and instilling te ao Māori dimensions into their relationships, culture and values, its mission is to grow pathways of knowledge, enabling the exploration, discovery and sharing of research for the benefit of all New Zealanders. A key player in public engagement, education and research support, their evidence-based advice and insights mean the Royal Society plays a pivotal role in supporting New Zealand’s research, science and innovation sector.

The role will be based in Wellington.
