Hobson Leavy are delighted to partner with New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi on the appointment of their next Chief Financial Officer.
- Lead broad transformational change in this critical role
- Large-scale, complex, dynamic environment
- Auckland or Wellington location
Play a key leadership role in the continued evolution of this significant Finance function
With a vision for “a land transport system connecting people, products and places for a thriving Aotearoa”, the New Zealand Transport Agency Waka Kotahi (NZTA) is a Crown Entity, responsible for managing the land transport system. Playing delivery, investment, planning, leadership and regulatory roles within the land transport system, it is also currently delivering one of the largest capital programmes in this country on behalf of the Crown. Over recent years the scope, scale and remit of NZTA has broadened and increased in complexity.
The role of Chief Financial Officer is critical in ensuring the effective financial leadership of NZTA, supporting the Chief Executive and the ELT in managing its financial performance and in driving business change. Reporting to the Group General Manager Commercial and Corporate, the CFO will be accountable for ensuring that the function is modern, delivers on the organisation’s key objectives and drives value. Key responsibilities will include ensuring that effective strategic financial management practices, frameworks, processes and mindsets are in place and working with business groups and leaders to enhance financial planning, performance and risk management. Leading a team of around eighty, the role can be based in either Auckland or Wellington.
The appointee will be a strategic finance professional, who has thrived at a senior executive level in complex environments of scale and who is adept at navigating the challenges of a dynamic and demanding environment. The ability to transform and uplift will be vital and the appointee will be a change agent, seeking out ways to improve and challenge the status quo. Proven experience in both public and private sector environments would be ideal, however, what is most critical is that the successful candidate has the ability to operate effectively in complex, large-scale organisations and to deliver outcomes.
The new CFO will be a strategic thinker with strong commercial acumen and a focus on delivering results. An inspirational and visionary leader, the appointee will be adept at developing and growing others and creating a culture of high performance. High levels of energy and drive are sought and the appointee will be skilled at building relationships and influencing a range of stakeholders across the organisation as well as externally.
