Hobson Leavy are delighted to be partnering with the Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA) to appoint their new Chief Executive Officer.
The Electricity Engineers’ Association (EEA) exists to support New Zealand’s electricity supply sector with expertise, capability development and advice on a raft of industry-impacting technical, engineering and safety issues. The EEA represents over 76 corporate member organisations (with over 13,000 employees), and some 550+ individual members – spanning generation, transmission, distribution, consulting, contractors and suppliers.
As a membership peak body, the EEA offers a critical voice, representing its members across Government, regulators, interrelated professional and industry bodies and in the media. Additional to advocacy and advice, the EEA provides NZ’s leading industry publications and guidelines on best practice safety and asset management for the sector, and as well as industry technical guides – with an internationally benchmarked lens. Importantly, the EEA connects members with Government, providing contemporary information on the asset management, technical and safety impacts of legislation and reform affecting the sector. In addition, the EEA offers a range of professional development resources to upskill those in and around the industry, whilst facilitating forums and conferences for members to engage, share knowledge and build critical working relationships.
The EEA is now seeking a progressive, highly strategic and contemporary leader to navigate the organisation through its next chapter. A sector experiencing disruption and change, the incoming CEO will be adaptable and innovative in their thinking, able to partner with a range of stakeholders to lead through and affect transformation. They will be the ‘face’ of the sector; capable of connecting stakeholders, building relationships and advocating across industry and Government.
The CEO will have a deep appreciation for the technicalities of the electricity supply industry. They will be skilled across stakeholder management, and bring strong communication and engagement capabilities. They will listen to understand, with a genuine ability to lean into the sector and connect with members, to get on ‘hands on’ from time to time, to ensure the EEA’s offering remains impactful and fit-for-purpose.
An advocate, an enabler and a partner, the CEO will be deeply committed to the evolution of the electricity supply sector in New Zealand, facilitating opportunities for ongoing development, innovation and collaboration.
