Chief Executive Officer – Kāhui Tū Kaha

-
Opportunities

A rare opportunity to lead an organisation delivering meaningful housing, health and social outcomes for Māori and diverse communities across Tāmaki Makaurau and Whangārei.

Kāhui Tū Kaha is a values driven, iwi organisation grounded in Manaakitanga, Rangatiratanga and Whakawhanaungatanga. With revenue of over $112 million and a workforce of 500, Kāhui Tū Kaha extends manaakitanga to all, addressing inequities for Māori while also supporting other population groups, including Rainbow, Pacific, Asian, Muslim and former refugees. Kāhui Tū Kaha holds a unique combination of indigeneity together with diversity, successfully complimenting each other.
Reporting to the Board, the Chief Executive will lead an organisation that holds a strong commitment to respond to increasing social need. The role requires both strategic leadership and strong operational oversight, ensuring excellence across service delivery, championing best practice grounded in tikanga and āhuatanga Māori.
With accountability for financial stewardship of the organisation, the Chief Executive will lead a growing asset base of social housing.

This is a role of influence, championing initiatives that address inequities and deliver meaningful outcomes for communities. The Chief Executive will uphold the organisation’s accountability to iwi and build and maintain strong relationships with Crown partners and community stakeholders, ensuring Kāhui Tū Kaha continues to be a trusted and respected kaupapa Māori provider.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced and ethical leader of a large, complex organisation or division, with the ability to unite people behind a clear and values-driven vision. You will bring strong business acumen, with property, people and operational capability, alongside deep cultural competence and a commitment to addressing inequities across health, housing and social services. You will lead with humility, courage and emotional intelligence, empowering kaimahi and modelling the behaviours that uphold the kaupapa. You will be future-focused and adaptable, with a leadership style that evolves with the organisation’s needs. You will be a critical thinker, able to navigate complexity, build trusted partnerships and make sound decisions that ensure the human rights of tangata are upheld and communities receive the high-quality support they deserve.

Applications close at 5.00pm, Thursday 16 April 2026.
