We are pleased to be partnering with Maritime New Zealand to appoint a Chief Digital, Data and Finance Officer – a newly established executive leadership role critical to enabling the organisation’s next phase of transformation.
Maritime NZ is the national regulator responsible for preventing harm, saving lives and securing the future of New Zealand’s maritime system. Operating in a complex and evolving environment, the organisation plays a vital role in ensuring safety, environmental protection and sector resilience.
Reporting to the Chief Executive and forming part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Digital, Data and Finance Officer will provide enterprise-wide leadership across digital and technology, data and analytics, and financial stewardship. This is a pivotal role, bringing together CIO and CFO accountabilities to strengthen how the organisation prioritises, invests and delivers change.
A key focus will be leading the digital and data transformation agenda, including modernisation of legacy systems, development of data and analytics capability, and advancement of AI-enabled initiatives to improve regulatory outcomes and organisational efficiency. The role will also lead financial sustainability and investment planning, ensuring funding decisions are aligned with strategy and delivered within tightly resourced settings.
This is an opportunity to play a central role in shaping organisational direction, enabling clear and transparent trade-offs across competing priorities, and embedding a more integrated, enterprise approach to decision-making. The successful candidate will also lead through a period of organisational change, helping to establish a new function and build capability for the future.
We are seeking a senior executive leader with particular depth in digital and data transformation, combined with the commercial acumen to lead financial stewardship in a complex environment. Candidates will bring strong experience delivering large-scale transformation programmes, the ability to influence at executive and board level, and the pragmatism to operate within a tightly resourced setting.
