Whakatupu rawa, whakatupu taangata, whakatupuranga.

Growing assets to grow our people for generations

Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) is the commercial arm of Waikato‑Tainui, entrusted with growing iwi assets to support its people for generations. As kaitiaki of a diversified investment portfolio valued at over $2 billion, TGH takes a long‑term, values‑led approach to sustainable wealth creation, balancing strong commercial outcomes with cultural responsibility under the iwi investment framework of Puna Whakatupu Taangata.
Following a period of strategic review, TGH has created the role of General Manager Natural Resources & Property. This executive position brings together two of TGH’s core portfolios and plays a key role in diversifying the organisation’s asset base while strengthening commercial and operational performance across existing investments.
Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, the GM Natural Resources & Property will provide strategic direction, performance oversight and operational leadership across a significant portfolio spanning property management services, farming, forestry, and fisheries. The role leads a multi‑disciplinary team and is responsible for driving performance, developing commercial partnerships and joint ventures, and identifying new opportunities aligned with TGH’s long‑term growth and sustainability objectives.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned senior leader with deep experience across the primary sector, property sector, strong commercial and financial acumen, and a proven track record in managing complex asset portfolios. Experience working in partnership environments, comfort engaging at executive and board level, and a high level of cultural capability — including experience working alongside iwi and Maaori organisations — will be essential. This role is based in the Waikato region.
Please direct enquires or applications to TGH@hobsonleavy.com. Applications close May 12th at 5pm.
