Whakatupu rawa, whakatupu taangata, whakatupuranga.
Growing our assets to grow our people for generations.
Tainui Group Holdings (TGH) is the commercial arm of Waikato‑Tainui, entrusted with growing iwi assets to support its people for generations. As kaitiaki of a diversified investment portfolio valued at over $2 billion, TGH takes a long‑term, values‑led approach to sustainable wealth creation, balancing strong commercial outcomes with cultural responsibility under the framework of Puna Whakatupu Tangata.
As part of the organisation’s ongoing evolution, and following a period of reflection and strategic refinement, the General Manager Transformation role has been established as a key executive appointment to support the next stage of TGH’s development as a market‑facing, commercially integrated organisation. Working in close partnership with the CEO and Leadership Team, the role will focus on translating strategic intent into sustained delivery, building on the foundations already in place, and supporting TGH’s continued growth, diversification and performance.
As an enterprise‑wide leader, the GM Transformation is responsible for overseeing business development and revenue generation, enterprise improvement, programme management, and IT and digital transformation.
The role balances practical, cross‑functional engagement with strategic leadership, partnering with investment, operations and support functions to build on established priorities, advance complex initiatives and strengthen performance, while sustaining a culture of continuous improvement across the organisation.
The successful candidate will be a senior transformation or strategy leader with a strong commercial approach, and a proven ability to operationalise strategy in complex, multifaceted commercial environments. They will bring experience across portfolio and programme governance, business development and digital transformation. Experience working with iwi or Maaori organisations, and the capability to build enduring commercial partnerships, will be highly regarded. This role is based in the Waikato region.
