We are delighted to be partnering with the German-New Zealand Chamber of Commerce to appoint their new Chief Executive Officer.
The German Chambers of Commerce Abroad (AHKs) form a global network supporting German businesses in international markets, with 150 locations across more than 90 countries. Working in close collaboration with industry associations, the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHKs), and key government agencies for foreign trade promotion, the AHKs play a vital role in strengthening Germany’s international economic relationships. Within each host country, they serve as trusted partners to business, government and public institutions.
As the official representative of German industry in New Zealand, the German‑New Zealand Chamber of Commerce (AHK New Zealand), supports German companies operating locally and assists New Zealand organisations engaging with the German market. Based in Auckland and Wellington, the Chamber has nine employees and nearly 300 members and delivers professional consulting and tailored services through its DEinternational brand. It is recognised for its deep market expertise, customer focus and its ability to leverage the extensive global AHK network for the benefit of both German and New Zealand organisations.
The CEO will lead the Chamber through its next phase of strategic growth, shaping initiatives that enhance bilateral economic cooperation between Germany and New Zealand. As the senior representative of German industry in New Zealand, they will deepen the Chamber’s relationships across business, government and public administration, while maintaining strong collaboration with IHKs, German industry associations, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) and partners involved in foreign trade promotion. They will also guide the continued development of the DEinternational service portfolio, identify new commercial opportunities and ensure the delivery of high-quality, relevant services to both markets, working closely with an active membership community.
The ideal candidate will bring strong international vision, commercial acumen and a sound understanding of political and economic environments. They will be an influential and credible leader with the ability to operate confidently at senior levels and a genuine commitment to strengthening economic ties between Germany and New Zealand. Fluency in both German and English is essential.
This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly respected bilateral organisation with global connectivity, strong purpose and significant influence across two dynamic and innovative economies.
