Tupu Tonu, Ngāpuhi Investment Fund is entering an exciting new phase of growth.
Following an organisational reset, Tupu Tonu has established strong foundations and is now focused on building enduring capability, strengthening commercial performance and creating long-term prosperity for Ngāpuhi. As part of this next chapter, Tupu Tonu is seeking a Chief Investment Officer to join its executive team.
This is far more than a traditional investment leadership role. It is an opportunity to steward a growing investment portfolio while identifying new opportunities that will deliver sustainable, intergenerational value. Working alongside the Chief Executive and Board, you will help shape the long-term direction of an organisation committed to balancing commercial success with enduring impact.
The portfolio spans infrastructure and energy, commercial property and primary industries, requiring an experienced investment leader who combines commercial judgement with strategic thinking and the credibility to operate confidently across boards, institutional investors, iwi and government stakeholders. You will lead investment strategy, oversee transaction execution and portfolio performance, while mentoring a high-performing investment team and cultivating strong market relationships.
Success in this role will come from your ability to identify opportunity, make sound investment decisions and build trusted partnerships. Equally important will be your collaborative leadership style, long-term perspective and commitment to creating value that extends beyond financial returns.
You will likely bring:
• Significant investment, funds management, private equity, corporate finance or principal investment experience.
• A strong track record originating, assessing and executing complex investment opportunities.
• Experience leading high-performing investment teams and operating at executive or board level.
• Well-established commercial networks and exceptional relationship management capability.
• A strategic mindset, commercial acumen and the ability to balance risk with long-term opportunity.
This is a rare opportunity to help shape the future of a purpose-led investment organisation and contribute to lasting outcomes for Ngāpuhi.
