CEO Designate - Financial Markets Authority
Critical role for development of New Zealand's Capital Markets
Transformational change opportunity
The government has declared its intention to establish the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) as the main organisation charged with regulating the conduct of participants in New Zealand's capital markets. It will play a critical role in building investor confidence and enabling firms to raise capital through its surveillance, supervision, guidance and enforcement roles. Over time the FMA may take on new functions and powers as a result of the current review of securities legislation.
The Establishment Board of the FMA is now seeking to appoint a CEO Designate for the organisation. This individual will lead the establishment, ongoing operation and development of the FMA to meet the objectives of the Board and in particular:
Implement the organisational structure for the new entity and promote the culture required to deliver on the strategic priorities, vision and core values as determined by the Board;
Deliver on the strategic plan established by the Board to advance the aims of the FMA;
Oversee the performance of the existing regulatory functions being assumed by the FMA as well as developing the capabilities and processes to perform any new regulatory functions assigned to the FMA; and,
Engage effectively with the financial industry around financial markets issues as well as working proactively with other crown agencies to improve effectiveness.
This role requires a strong leader with a proven ability to build successful teams and achieve outcomes. It requires excellent strategic skills and operational capability.
Potential candidates will have a proven track record as an effective Chief Executive or senior manager in financial markets, a financial regulatory authority or a related organisation including leading organisations through change. This is an outstanding opportunity to take up a role which will make a real difference to New Zealand and play a part in improving the countrys future economic performance.
Closing date for applications: 9th August 2010.
